In Sept of 2011, the smallest pup in the litter was sitting in the pet store. A trip to Vegas was planned and cancelled so instead the little pup was adopted. It was fate and a connection was immediately made. The new pup became part of the family on Sat. Sept. 15. She was a loyal friend and a constant companion to her family members. She touched the hearts of all who knew her. The joy Trixie brought to her mommy and daddy was beyond words. She was a loving part of the family and will be greatly missed by her family: Mommy, Daddy, Bambi, Kenny, Susie and Grandma.

Even after their vet was contacted by the shelter, from the information on his Rabies tag. He was at least 13 years old (his previous vet’s records went back to 1999).I drove to Fayetteville, NC (about an hour away) and pulled him from the Cumberland County Animal Control. Zippie (his original name) was covered in fleas and had obvious skin issues. He came into the shelter with a left rear leg laceration, and a tumor on his belly about the size of a quarter (and several smaller ones). After getting him in to see my vet, getting a full blood panel done, and bringing him up to date on everything, he received a very badly needed dental, losing 6 teeth in the process. On a positive note, he was Heartworm NEGATIVE!Fast forward to January 2014….Now Zippie has been diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma, which is the most common type of nasal tumor seen in pets his age. We have an appointment with the Oncologist 1/21/14, to determine where to go from here, in regards to treatment options. January 30th 2014 Zippie Joe had a CT Scan, the news was not good. January 31st 2014 RIP my sweet Zippie Joe, no more pain. I will see you again at the bridge and we will cross together.
