Diagnosed on a Monday, she was initially not expected to make it through the weekend, but thanks to a steroid prescription, she started to be her old self again and was given just a little more time. She even got to celebrate her 10th birthday on October 6th! She was doing well in the evening of October 13th, even enjoying a family walk. However, things took a turn for the worse overnight. She coughed up blood and it was clear her cancer was taking control of her. She passed the next morning on October 14th, 2023. Just less than a month after she started showing symptoms. Losing Lexi was a tragedy. Gone to soon, our sweet girl was the embodiment of happiness. She had such a playful energy, even for the 10-year-old dog she was. She loved walks, Kroger string cheese (she always spit out Kraft brand), taking shoes and socks, and going for car rides. We miss our Lexi girl dearly, and I hope this donation can go towards finding a cure so no dog parent has to go through the tragic loss of their furry friend from AML again.
