A generous donation was made by Jeanie Ulicny in memory of Sawyer Ulicny.

“Mom, I want a golden retriever puppy named Sawyer”, for four years, my eldest son Michael, declared, every Christmas, Easter, Birthday. Finally on Michael’s 14th birthday, we welcomed Sawyer into our family. And he changed it, and our hearts forever.

At 88 lbs of fluff and muscle, Sawyer lived LARGE, ignoring all rules to get what he wanted—food, toys, your lap, your bed. His mantra was “YOU can’t wait to meet me!” Every single person who crossed our threshold was welcomed with a hug and a nip and sometimes the “full Sawyer”, his signature move. And, of course, his passion for people was only surpassed by his love of your food. Still everyone forgave his naughty behavior because he was just so handsome and loveable. My favorite memories are watching each of my sons asleep with Sawyer snuggled up right next to them. They loved him more than life itself.

Sawyer and I moved to Park City Utah where he quickly adapted to become a mountain dog. It was here that he finally met Roxann, his trainer or dog whisperer who understood him. She explained that Sawyer wanted to behave, but like his Scottish ancestors lived with such passion that once he set his sights on something or someone he wanted, he just couldn’t stop himself from loving all the way. Sawyer taught my sons Michael and Robbie and me and anyone who loved him, including his Aunt Cathy and best buds Jack and George that “loving all the way” was the only way to be.

Just after his 8th birthday, Sawyer suddenly passed from blood cancer. He was with Roxanne at the time, enjoying the wide open space of her ranch with his pals and collapsed. Roxann stayed with him throughout and her complete dedication to him eased our pain. She is truly remarkable—refusing to take her fee, but asked instead that we donate it to this worthy charity. We pray that we find a cure so that more dogs get to live and love all the way.

A generous donation was made to the Chase Away K9 Cancer Fund by Debbie Anderson in memory of Gauge Anderson. Gauge was my Guardian and he was my Angel ❤ He passed away at the age of 11 in 2021. He was diagnosed with magistrate cancer in the spleen. 2 weeks later he passed away. The thing is 6 months earlier we had to neuter him due to enlarged prostate. I keep thinking if they had done a complete diagnostic they might have found the cancer early enough to treat.
