A dog owner has been left heartbroken after her beloved pooch died of canine cancer after months of treatment.

Delphi McWilliam was forced to say goodbye to Penny, her six-year-old labradoodle, after she stopped responding to chemotherapy in April.

Penny underwent treatment at Dick White Referrals in Cambridgeshire for 18 months in a bid to rid her of the deadly disease – but she was unable to overcome the illness.

However, she baffled vets by continuing to lead an energetic life – despite suffering with various lumps on her body.
