Our dog Cobi is an inspiration to us to live our lives to the fullest and enjoy it all……what a lesson to learn from a very special pit bull girl. Cobi, a cancer survivor, eventually succumbed to a second cancer. We honor her memory by honoring her strength and passion and know that we will have our best friend in our lives forever!Cobi is our best friend sharing with us not only her love but her enduring strength and passion to live. She started her life with us when our yellow lab found her in our yard as a very sick puppy. She quickly grew to be a strong, playful, and loving dog. She welcomes all dogs into her life and becomes their instant playmate. She is persistent in visiting her doggie boyfriends every day and stands at their fence gate to look for them. She loves to travel everywhere with us in our boat, in our cars, and on walks and hikes. Her travels included many trips to our camp at Black Lake, New York over the years. She traveled the last two winters to Florida with us, enjoying our retirement too, staying in dog friendly hotels and rental homes, going to dog friendly restaurants, beaches and parks, always watching what’s going by out the car window. She survived cancer and jaw surgery at the age of 13. Since then she happily does everything with us, taking all new adventures in stride and snuggles by our side as if to say “I love being with you no matter where you go or what you do”. And, we love making adventures for her to enjoy wherever we go. Recently she was diagnosed with mast cell tumor cancer and a heart issue but that didn’t stop her. She still walks up a hill to visit her boyfriends, goes for trips in the car and boat, barks at horses and cows and UPS delivery people, watches boats, people, and wildlife, digs holes, goes swimming and walking with all the gusto she can muster. Sadly, she passed away, by our sides, a few weeks ago, almost 15 now, after enjoying a day of swimming, walking, barking and loving all things. Our lives are forever changed because she made our lives so much richer with her presence.

After a 3-year very brave, strong fight with cancer, she’s at peace now. She beat the odds many times, leading her Vets to call her my ‘Miracle Dog’. She would be 12 on July 17th, so she outlived many Boxers (and many other dogs for that matter) which is a true testament to her strength and will to live and love. She was the absolute PERFECT dog for all of the 11 years I was fortunate enough to have her in my life. She earned the nickname ‘Wigglebutt’ early on because she was always at the door, her nub wagging so hard her whole rear end wiggled side to side as she tap-danced, so happy to greet me every day. As soon as I came in, I would drop my things and get on my knees, and she would put a paw on each of my shoulders and give me the most sweet, gentle kiss on the tip of my nose. Her greetings always made me so happy! I’ll miss everything about her for every day of my life – snuggle time, our walks around the neighborhood, watching her play with her brothers, hearing her ‘talk’ to me, waiting outside a closed door for Mom to come out, laying with me as we relaxed in the evenings, her smell, her smile, her kisses, her big beautiful brown eyes. I would give anything and everything to hold and cuddle with her again. She was my rock … my most trusted and loyal companion, my sweet pea, my baby, my heart and soul … always by my side. There will never be another Roxy. Remy died of lung cancer, just one day after competing in what would be his last agility trial. This donation supports canine cancer research in hopes of one day finding a cure.
